If I twist the wheel

pull hard towards me

to stop the deer ahead of me

from dying.

would I be considered God

if I decided in all my wisdom,

to hit it instead?

if I were to die, and crash in its place,

would I be the master

of my own fate?

the reality is

something in between

i am neither God,

nor master, nor

alive indecision.

if I strike my head

against the wheel

bleed as the deer,

would I be,

as human, then, as ever?

or be bloodied by the

brutal prospect

of a cut-short,

drawn out, simple mortality

out of my control.
